After months of waiting, Ava made her way into the world on March 16th, 2010 at 6:46am, weighing in at 11ponds, 2 ounces, 22 inches long. My doctor had put my on rest a week before her delivery, due to her size and the nature of the work I do daily. During our visit, she stated, " baby is 9lb 10oz, I would really recommend an induction if you want to try to go naturally" I agreed and an induction was scheduled for March 15th at 9:30am, after hours of natural labor and only 5 cm dialiated, they stopped the drugs and all contractions stopped. By then my body was exhausted ( having contractions every 30seconds for 2 minutes each) and when they went to start the pitocin again, I yelled at the nurse stating "we are not doing this again" The nurse looked at me confused and Simon clarified before I lost it. My doctor was then called at 5:00am on March 16th and a c-section was scheduled for that morning at 6:00am. After getting sick on the doctor in the OR, Ava Grace was born at 6:47am and we were both happy to hear that she was well.
I shooed Simon off to be with Ava, while I was sewed up and placed in recovery. He was glowing and enjoyed holding Ava and comforting her for her first few hours of life. While in recovery, I finally got to see my little girl. They brought her to me to feed and she was a natural pro. Just as soon as she was there they wisked her away, me shooing Simon to be with her. Finally, I was placed in my room to recover. A few minutes after being there, Simon walked in rolling Ava along in front of him. He placed her on my chest and after what seemed like forever, I was able to hold and cuddle my new daughter.
Simon was amazing through everything and now even gets up once a night to help with feedings. Ava is now back up to her birth weight and growing and developing more every day. It is amazing how much she changes daily when watching and playing with her. We are truly blessed!!!
